10 Chilling Christmas Eve Movies

You all know me as the Hudson Valley Halloween Queen; however, you shouldn't think I don't celebrate Christmas. Actually, I immerse myself in the ambiance of dark nights and the roaring flames of the fire along with a hot, spiked beverage and a good ghost story. As the song says, "It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year,” and clearly states "There'll be scary ghost stories and tales of the glories of Christmases long, long ago.” I whole-heartedly embrace Victorian tradition of sharing ghost stories on Christmas Eve and throughout the season ending with The Twilight Zone Marathon on News Year's Day.

For me, there is nothing like a ghostly period film to set the atmosphere for the evening.  If you're not aware, the short story, A Christmas Carol written by Mark Twain is the most famous ghost story of all time. Of course, there are many narrations of this story. My preference is the 1970 version of Scrooge with Albert Finney.  I always want to roust up of the couch and belt out the uplifting tune Thank you Very Much as the entire village celebrates the death of the greedy, old miser. Scrooge not your cup of tea?  Add any of these supernatural films movies to your Christmas holiday watchlists for a thrilling, chilling evening by the tree.

Now, it's time to start your own Christmas tradition of watching ghostly movies.

Have yourself a scary little Christmas. Make the Yuletide slay!
